Aquamarine is the light to medium blue form of Beryl, related to emerald and morganite. Good hardness and toughness make this a good choice for all types of jewelry. The best supplie currently are coming from Madagascar, Mozambique and Nigeria. Brazil is another supplier that has a famous past but currently is not supplying the market with much material. The value of aqua is based on the depth and purity of its color. Blue with a minimum of gray mask is more desirable. Secondary green color is typically heated out of aquamarine but occasionally the green gives a highly desirable sea foam color.
