I've worked with many Ethiopian opals and this particular piece has extremely intense color play that displays the whole rainbow of colors. You can somewhat see the slight honey comb pattern that lies within. There are many mediocre Welo opals out there, but this is not one of them. It is a remarkable specimen of the finest color quality. That being said, this is not a piece that would be ideal for cutting (rough), due to internal imperfections, but it is an amazing display specimen.
One amazing characteristic of this material is that it is hydrophane, meaning it will absorb and release water. That being said, if you want to clean or remove any dust from this material, we do not recommend submerging it in water, but rather do it with a dry cloth with no chemicals or cleaning agents.
We consider this to be a Thumbnail (TN) sized specimen. This beautiful mineral specimen is available today!
