Among the rarest of gems this single source gem has been completely mined out possibly never to be seen again. One 1.24 carats barion oval hyalite opal from Zacatecas Mexico, SI2 clarity, cut grade excellent, measuring 6.5 mm wide, 8.9 mm long, 4.8 mm deep; with excellent polish, excellent symmetry, and strong fluorescence. The proportions of the hyalite opal are as follows: total depth 73.8%, table width 53.8%. Hyalite opal is one of the few gem materials that will fluoresce in daylight. This one has very strong daylight fluorescence and has very high clarity for this type of opal. Due to the low specific gravity of opal it has a large appearance for its weight.
